"I can't emphasize enough how important virtual reality is for speech therapy. In our speech rooms, we can only reflect on past speaking situations, and try to predict the future with our clients. withVR brings structured speaking situations into the speech room, allowing for clients to immerse themselves in real-time situations, with practice and support. It also takes me out of the speaking situation - the client doesn't feel obligated to do anything on my behalf and the experience is solely for their own growth. withVR helps the field of speech-language pathology to stay current with the latest technologies and methods for engaging our clients."

"withVR makes it possible to practice unexpected situations so the client has to become aware of what he is capable of in such situations. I noticed that my client became more aware of his tension level and the consequences in his behavior. In the VR app he had to improvise and respond to what was happening at the moment. Then he started to realize what was withholding him; he felt so much tension that he started to fight and flight more. He knew that before in retrospect, but now that he practiced in a situation he really noticed that those responses didn’t help him deal with the situation. We once went outside to practice this, but then he didn’t want to practice at all because of the tension. VR was a step he really dared to take, so that he could become aware of his stuttering behavior and thoughts and feelings while he was in a situation."

"These virtual people were something else. They were staring at me, making grimaces, interrupting my speech. Not an easy place to use speech techniques. Ordering a beer with Jägermeister from the bar after this was a piece of cake."

"withVR is a game-changer. Plain and simple. As a Person Who Stutters who likes to rehearse speeches and monologues, this is the perfect tool. I was immersed with the feeling that I was actually speaking to a couple of people and it gave me the confidence and preparation to set myself up for success when speaking to a crowd of people. Huge kudos to Gareth Walkom and the withVR team for all of their hard work. This is an incredible device."

"Speaking as a researcher and a clinician, a major challenge we face is replicating the "real world" in the therapeutic environment. Virtual Reality holds promise to enhance not only our current therapies for stuttering but assist us as in our development of emerging therapeutics to enhance the lives of those of us who stutter."

"I’m excited about the prospect of using withVR. It’s fairly easy for people to become fluent in the therapy room. Transferring these skills to a more public environment is a challenge; one that your product’s virtual audience can help overcome."

"Para muchas personas con tartamudez el tener que hablar públicamente puede ser muy retador. Frente a ello, considero que withVR es una herramienta clave para trabajar dichas situaciones en un espacio seguro, donde tanto el terapeuta como el usuario tienen el control total de la situación. Además, les permite practicar posibles escenarios de manera progresiva, lo cual facilita el proceso terapéutico."

"For many people with stuttering, having to speak publicly can be very challenging. In light of this, I believe that withVR is a key tool for working through such situations in a safe space, where both the therapist and the user are in full control of the scenario. In addition, it allows them to practice possible scenarios in a progressive way, which facilitates the therapeutic process."

"The speech therapy room is a safe place for people to stutter to openly express themselves but replicating and exploring real-world scenarios can often be challenging. My clients often find some role-playing exercises difficult, as they don’t feel as genuine and because are still really speaking to me as their speech therapist. withVR can provide an amazing opportunity for simulated and structured speaking interactions that feel more genuine, while still taking place in the speech room during practice and with the support of an SLP."

"Everyday situations such as making a phone call, grocery shopping, ordering food in a restaurant, giving an oral exam, giving an address, etc... represent great challenges for people who stutter, which they must face daily. As a speech therapist and stuttering specialist, I can say that withVR is an app that will revolutionize treatments, bringing hope to our clients by helping them resolve these situations with more confidence and security.
